Season’s Greetings and welcome to our first blog entry. We recently received an enquiry from one of our regular Tattooed Lady customers, as follows – “I'm thinking of cracking one my 2001's - how are they drinking now?”.
This is Michael’s response -
Just finished lunch. 01 TL Shiraz. Three of us enjoyed the wine, the food and the company. The wine is absolutely sound and shows no sign of getting old, probably a perfect time to drink at least some of it. It will go on for a long time yet.
Descriptions were many, but the essence of the wine was summed up by simple words such as "balance; proportion, character, smoothness and personality were the key. Actually the conversation lead into the most beautiful people we had met etc, which is the hallmark of a good wine.
There you go. My recommendation is to open at least one bottle of it this festive season (how many do you have?). I don't say it is the best wine ever made, but very likely the best wine I have made in 23 years winemaking.
Two essentials for enjoying good wine are, never try it until the kids are in bed, even if they have grown up, and always with somebody nice.
Please let me know how you find it.
Cheers
Michael Unwin
